Dear Shelagh,
I am so sorry for your loss. While I never met your father I always felt I knew him through your stories. He must have been such a dynamo. I cannot fathom trying to do half of the things he accomplished. He must never have slept. It sounds like he had a wonderful life. One we should all strive towards.
Sincerely,
Dr. Baker

I am so sorry to learn of Doctor Maloney’s passing. I had the privilege of participating in his eye care until my retirement 8 years ago. I looked forward to every encounter with him. He could elaborate in detail on just about every subject. I enjoyed his enthusiasm for the Santa Fe Opera in particular. Such an amazing man and his love for family was always evident in our conversations. He will be missed greatly. Fondly, Dr. Cathy Colt

I am so sad that my cousin's husband has passed! What a wonderful tribute to a wonderful person! So, many things I did not know! He certainly chose the right profession. My husband Kurt and I enjoyed our dinners with Edna and Don. They are both so missed. I send our condolence to his lovely family. This will be a big adjustment for them as they were such a close family. Our prayers go out to you.
Sincerely, Jane and Kurt Straub

Dr. Maloney, as I always referred to him, was a figure I looked up to and will continue to do so. Coming over to the Maloney’s house was something I always looked forward to, because of the wonderful times I had with his and Mrs. Maloney’s children, but also because of his enthusiastic desire to show me something new. Sometimes it was a musical instrument he learned to play, or new food or beverage or an interesting article from a journal or other publication. He was in part one reason I pursued my own career path. I still to this day compare other physicians to him. This is not just in what I think a doctor should be like as far as diagnostic acumen or bedside manner, but also in the other dimensions of a person, in his case, his many talents. He was so multifaceted and funny, intellectual, and kind. Some of my memories, of which I have dozens, include him breaking into French when looking for something in the kitchen, like the Brie or the walnuts for instance. Or when I was so ill in my residency, and he rapidly concluded that I had Graves disease. He was the physician, for decades, for my Mom, who admired him so much, we would have fun together looking for interesting books for Mom to give him on his birthday, mostly on music. I recall when he got the license plate as a tribute to the American jazz guitarist Charlie Byrd, my brother, Mom and I thought it was so creative. I am so fortunate to have known Dr. Maloney and to know the whole Maloney family. His joie de vivre is one of the many things I will cherish about this wonderful man.

To the Maloney Family and his Partners in Medicine, I send my deepest sympathy in the loss of this prolific, yet humble man.
Don Maloney filled his 95 years with a keen interest in everyone and everything around him, infusing all with energy and joy, with his Family and his Music, being the heart and soul of his life. I had the privilege of working with him and the eminent group of Physicians who were "AMS". His ability to retain vast amounts of knowledge was unsurpassed and it did not wane as time marched on. He was happy to share that knowledge with you. Our friendship continued until his passing.
For the gifts he gave me over time, I am grateful.
"Employer, Mentor, Friend"
He will live on in my memory and in my heart.

I am saddened to learn of Don's passing, and please know all his family is in my thoughts and prayers. And as I think of him, a gentle smile does cross my face. He was so welcoming and friendly when I first joined the staff of Abington (just a few years ago), and he eventually became my patient so I was fortunate to keep in touch with him 2 or 3 times a year. I still have a coin he gave me, which for some very odd reason I just ran across today. I also have a bottle of Bordeaux from him that I have been saving for God knows what.
Recently his eyesight did begin to fail; but he never complained and always just made the most of what he still had. And I so fondly remember that he told me when he closed his eyes, he would see musical notes swirling across his mind's eye. I doubt any of us are surprised to hear that.
Don touched so many lives. We will all miss him, but we will also all hold him in our hearts. And I am going to open that bottle of Grand Cru Bordeaux in his honor, and in his memory.

Condolences from the staff of Briar Bush Nature Center to Don's family. He was so full of energy and ideas, sometimes beyond our capacity to grasp, and a fantastic neighbor for the Center. We are so grateful to have known and worked with him.

I first met Don at Settlement Music School when I joined the Adult Chamber Players, at that time at Jenkintown Music School. He played the oboe at that time and I had just taken the oboe up again after many years so that we had that bond. But as well he could talk about about many subjects and always had a great sense of humor. And his gentleness always shone through. I wish he had been young enough to be my doctor.
