My school friends and I would like to express our sincere condolences on the death of our teacher, Miss Glavis. We were very sorry to learn this week of her death, as she was a very popular teacher who became a great friend to many of her former pupils. She has been described on our Peterborough County School Facebook group as "inspirational", "a great teacher, passionate about her subject", "she encouraged me to write and gave me confidence", "a very gifted teacher", "she left me with a love of books", "my inspiration to become a teacher"....
I am thankful that I was able to make contact with her a few years ago; we corresponded by email for some years and she sent copies of her tape recordings of the school choir, made in the 1970s, to put on our school website at https://peterborocountyschool.wordpress.com/ where our own obituary will be added shortly. Her emails were always a joy to read, full of warmth and humour. She will be sadly missed.
This photograph of Wendy is from the whole school photo taken in April 1969, seven months after she joined the school.
