My children absolutely adored Alice. I am so thankful they had the opportunity to be in her presence. We were fortunate enough to have tea with her in her wonderful home and she taught the girls how to sew lace on bonnets for Laurel Hill. She also authored a book about a mouse at Laurel Hill. Her contributions are countless. I am thankful she is reunited with her husband. She loved him dearly and shared stories of his airplane and it was apparent there was mutual love and adoration. Our condolences go to the family. She adored you all.

I grieve with the family and friends of Ms. Alice as we will miss her on earth, but I rejoice with Ms. Alice as she is reunited with her husband in heaven and with God Almighty. She was a remarkable member of our church Saint Mark’s Reformed Episcopal. I loved listening to her stories, especially about Alice Blue Gown. She had a passion for crafting and made me a tea cozy, a needle case, and a handcrafted baptismal gown which both my children wore during their baptisms. One of my favorite memories with her was celebrating her 90th birthday at a lovely lunch spot, only to find out later that she had actually turned 91 that year. We will miss her very much. This world was a better place because of Alice Nugent.

I always looked forward to the little notes she would send me and she always signed it with a doodle of her with a bun in her hair. Such a sweet sweet person with such grace.

When I think about Alice, I think of a word we do not use much anymore, Gentlewoman. Alice was truly "genteel" without the Southern snobbery that sometimes comes with that description. She and I had an affinity for tea and I will always cherish the teapot cozy she made for me as well as the cornucopias that hang on our tree every Christmas. She was the epitome of a kindergarten teacher and I learned so much from her by her interactions with other people. We also connected with our faith in God. Alice walked the walk and talked the talk!! She shared herself and her knowledge without being overwhelming or pushy. My son, Nate, held a special place in her heart and I will never forget the time she read her book, "Mouse in Laurel Hill" to him when he was a boy. She also let him go for a ride on the stairclimber when we visited her.
My world was made so much better for knowing her and I thank God for all the opportunities we had together to sip tea, eat sandwiches, and chat!!
I pray God's comfort and love for her family during their season of mourning.

I knew Alice through the Laurel Hill Mansion Christmas Tour. She was so sweet and always dressed the part.
Rest Peacefully, Alice.
