Obituary of Linda Ann Maisenhelder

Please share a memory of Linda to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Linda Ann Maisenhelder, age 70, a lifelong resident of Abington, died on January 19th 2024. She was the beloved wife of Howard Maisenhelder for 48 years. Born in Abington on November 18th 1953, Linda was the daughter of John and Mary (Burghardt) Clark, and sister of John, Harry, and Mary. She graduated from Abington High School in 1971 and then attended Temple University for two years before transferring to Penn State University to be closer to her future husband, graduating in 1975 with her B.A. in Journalism. She worked as an Office Manager at Manncorp and Site Specific Design for many years and was known for her volunteer work. Over the years, she volunteered in her church as a deacon, as the music librarian, as well as in the children's Bible study summer program. She also sang in the church choir as a contralto. Outside of the church, she helped create the non-profit organization The Nursing Mothers Advisory Council. This was in addition to her many years spent leading Girl Scout Brownie Troop 585, which met in the Roslyn Boy's Club and for which she led many trips camping, to the Franklin Institute, the Academy of Natural Sciences, and the Philadelphia Zoo. She even trained other troop leaders and earned the highest award in Girl Scouts, the William Penn Award. At home she enjoyed baking, crafting, gardening, and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. After suffering a stroke in early 2020, Linda battled vascular dementia and her faculties began to decline. With the help of in-home care givers, and some home modifications, she was able to stay in her own home until August of 2021 at which point she was moved to Brookside Healthcare in Roslyn. She is survived by her loving husband Howard, her daughter Jennifer and son-in-law David Richardson, her daughter Laura Maisenhelder, and seven grandchildren. Relaives and friends will be received on Thursday, February 1, 2024 from 6:00 – 8:00 PM, Helweg & Rowland Funeral Home, 1500 Old York Road, Abington. Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, February 3, 2024, Abington Presbyterian Church, 1082 Old York Road, Abington. A reception, will follow the service, in the Parish Hall of the Church. Memorial contributions can be sent to Music at Abington, 1082 Old York Rd, Abington, PA 19001 (apcusa.org/give/donate/).
