Obituary of Peggy A. Savage

Peggy Antoinette Savage, age 93, a resident of Doylestown, PA, and previously of East Falmouth, MA, died on November 26, 2023. Born in Abington, PA, she was the daughter of the late Anthony W. Savage and the late Margaret Messer. After graduating from Cheltenham High School in 1948, Peggy earned a Bachelor of Science in 1952 from Temple University, where she majored in Health and Physical Education and minored in Psychology. Peggy continued her education at the University of Pennsylvania, from where she earned her Master's Degree in Counseling Psychology in 1963. In 1964, she completed a Research Assistantship in Statistics at the University of Pennsylvania. Also, she studied Comparative Education at the N.E.A. International Institute at the City University of London in 1977, in addition to Graphic Design and Mechanical Design Drafting at Cape Cod Community College in 1980 and 1981, respectively. Peggy served in the United States Navy from 1952 – 1957 and in the Reserves from 1958 – 1967, earning a National Defense Service Medal. Peggy was employed at the Falmouth High School in Falmouth, MA, where she taught Health & Physical Education, Psychology I & II, Geography and Current Events, as well as being a counselor. Previously, she was employed as a guidance counselor and director of student activities at Cape Cod Community College and at Mahoney's Garden Center. She was a member of Alpha Sigma Alpha Sorority and, while living in Pennsylvania, a member of Abington Presbyterian Church. Peggy enjoyed wood carving, sketching or painting, crossword puzzles and opera. She is survived by her nieces and nephews, Patricia A. Lehnert, Katherine M. Fazio, George M. Fazio, Sr., Frances P. McNamara, Sandra J. Dainis, Andrew P. Dainis and Edward Brakna; great-nephews and one great-niece, George M. Fazio, Jr., Joseph Fazio, David McNamara and Wendy Raymond; and great-great nieces and great-great nephews, Jack McNamara, Hailey McNamara, David Phillips, Jason Phillips and Kaitlyn Phillips. She was preceded in death by her brother, Francis P. Savage, and nephew, Anthony J. Savage. Graveside Service will be held at 11:30 AM on December 18, 2023, Washington Crossing National Cemetery, 580 Highland Road, Newtown, PA.
