Obituary of Carol Beth Lusignea

Carol Beth Lusignea age 68, most recently of Warminster, PA and formerly of Mystic, CT and Upper Dublin, PA died on November 30, 2022. She was the beloved wife of William Lusignea for 46 years. In addition to her husband, Carol is survived by her children Lauren Whiteside, Lindsay Kiracofe (husband Phil Kiracofe), and Brian Lusignea (wife Heather Lusignea); grandchildren Taylor and Lukas Whiteside, Alexander Kiracofe, and William Lusignea; sisters, Barbara Frey and Jean Kromer, and brother, Frank Ganther. Born in Abington, PA Carol was the daughter of Frank E. Ganther and the late Anne L. Hunger Ganther. Carol graduated from Upper Moreland High School in 1972. She earned her Bachelor's degree from East Stroudsburg University in 1976, and later earned her Master's Degree in Education from West Chester University in 2000. During her time at ESU, Carol played field hockey and lacrosse. Carol continued playing these sports for five years with the Philadelphia club teams. In 2018, Carol retired from the Lower Moreland School District after teaching Elementary Health and Physical Education at Pine Road Elementary School for 25 years. She also was the Varsity Field Hockey Coach at Lower Moreland High School from 1987-2008. Carol was passionate about healthy living and served as chairperson for Pine Road Elementary School Wellness Committee and co-chairperson of Lower Moreland School District Wellness Committee. From 1978 to 1982, Carol taught at The Agnes Irwin School in Villanova, PA. Carol was a member of PSEA (Pennsylvania State Education Association) and SHAPE (Society of Health and Physical Educators). She volunteered for the American Heart Association (AHA) and ran the Jump Rope For Heart (JRFH) program at Pine Road for 25 years. She raised significant funds through JRFH and was the 2017 Heart Award Winner from the AHA. For the past 30 years, Carol was a member of Supplee Church in Maple Glen, PA, where she sang with the Choir. While living in Connecticut, she was a member of Mystic Congregational Church, where she served on their missions committee, women's association and volunteered with the Hispanic Education Tutoring Committee. Carol enjoyed gardening and earned a Master Gardener Certificate from the University of Rhode Island. She enjoyed boating down the Mystic River and along the Long Island Sound with family and friends. She was a beloved "Baba" providing snuggles and fun to all of her grandchildren. As an athlete, she was fan of all sporting events especially the Philadelphia professional sports teams. She always found a way to incorporate exercise into her daily life whether it was counting steps, going to the YMCA, or finding innovative ways to keep moving. For over 50 years, she enjoyed spending time with her family at her parents house in Brigantine Beach, NJ watching her extended family grow and make memories. Memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, December 14, 2022, Supplee Church, 855 East Welsh Road, Maple Glen, where relatives and friends will be received from 12:00 noon until the time of the service. Interment will be in Mystic, CT in a private ceremony.
