Obituary of Arthur Charles Forbes

Arthur C. Forbes, Sr., age 95, a resident of Jenkintown, PA for the past 60 years, died on February 21, 2022. He was the devoted husband of the late Beverly M. Forbes for 71 years until her death in 2016. Born in Abington, PA, Arthur was the son of the late George Forbes and the late Edith Bray Forbes. He graduated from Cheltenham High School in 1944. He was honorably discharged from the US Navy and served during World War II. Art was the Manager of Engineering for Bell Telephone Company, now Verizon, for 40 years until he retired in 1982. He had a keen sense of ingenuity and could always be relied upon to fix things and solve problems. Art had many interests and enjoyed deep sea fishing, archery, bird watching, boating, and flying radio-controlled airplanes that he spent tireless hours building to perfection. He was an active member of the Bucks County Radio Control Club in recent years and in his earlier years, was involved with the Boy Scouts, Eagle Scouts, and Indian Guide. He is survived by his children and their spouses; Arthur C., Jr. and Lynn Forbes, Kathryn E. and Robert Moore, John D. Forbes, Joan M. and Brian Lureen and James M. and Terry Forbes; 20 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his son and daughter-in-law, Douglas G., and Marge Forbes; brother, George Forbes and sister, Betty Vick and grandson, Ryan P. Mahoney. Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, May 6, 2022, Helweg & Rowland Funeral Home, 1500 Old York Road, Abington, where friends will be received from 10:00 AM until the time of the service.
