Obituary of Alma A. Goody

Alma Anderson Goody died Wednesday March 10, 2021 at the age of 93 at Holy Redeemer Hospice, Meadowbrook PA. She grew up in the Olney section of Philadelphia where she graduated from Olney High School. After marrying, she was a decades long resident of both Abington and Jenkintown. Alma had a career as a secretary and bookkeeper for several companies in Philadelphia until the early 1960s. She volunteered for home and school activities when her daughter was growing up. An avid artist, she enjoyed drawing, painting and playing the piano. She also loved swimming and ice skating. She was a member of Jenkintown United Methodist Church for many years. Alma was the devoted wife of the late Edward J. Goody Jr., and the beloved mother of Joan Helgesen. In addition to her daughter, she is survived by her niece Elizabeth D Wolff, and by her son-in-law Brian Helgesen. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, stepfather, sister Gloria A. Wolff, and by her nephew, Robert A. Wolff. Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, May 27, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at the Helweg & Rowland Funeral Home, 1500 Old York Road, Abington, PA, where friends will be received from 10:30 a.m. until the time of service.
