June Ellen (nee Pitts) Thurman, born and raised in Philadelphia, a 26 year resident of Huntingdon Valley, PA. passed away on February 18, 2021 at the age of 97. Her loving husband, Jack N. Thurman, to whom she was married 68 years predeceased her in 2014. They met shortly after Jack was discharged from the US Army and married six months later. Although she worked at Frankford Trust Bank for more than 30 years, her life was always focused on her family and her involvement at Cedar Grove Church in Philadelphia where she was a member, faithfully serving the Lord in in the choir and teaching Sunday School to high school girls until she was over 80 years old. Without a doubt, her greatest joy was her family. She is survived by two daughters Jeanne (Ken) Heidorn, Cheryle (David, deceased) Stewart and five grandchildren, Chad (Michelle) Stewart, Brian (Jennifer) Heidorn, Brent (Jennifer) Heidorn, Heather (Scott) Karr, Ashley (John) Bailey and 11 great-grandchildren. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, February 27, 2021 at Crossroads Bible Church, 855 Old Huntingdon Pike, Huntingdon Valley PA. 19006. Visitation at 9:30 a.m. followed by a service at 11:00 a.m. Due to COVID, the family understands if you are uncomfortable in attending, but would appreciate your thoughts and prayers on their behalf. In lieu of flowers contributions may be sent to Cedar Grove Christian Academy, Bingham and Hellerman Streets, Philadelphia. PA 19111 Interment will be private.
