The following is a tribute from her son, Joey:

Mom O.

You may have known her as Veronica, Ronnie, Mrs. O., Mom O., or even Gram O., but our Mom was just always happy just to hear from you.  She was born in Barberton, OH, one of seven children, with her being the youngest.  She made her way to Philadelphia where she went to St. George’s and then on to Little Flower High School.  She met and married the love of her life, our Father, John Oldroyd, and they went on to have two boys, Joey and Frank.

Our Mom was devoted to her faith and family.  Her faith helped guide her through life’s challenges and even more after the death of her beloved husband, John, almost 30 years ago.  She never wavered from her faith and prayed daily.

She lived her life through her two boys and always wanted to know where we had been and how our families and friends were doing.  She could talk on the phone for hours, especially with her childhood friend Phyllis.  She had a great memory and could tell you details about things that happened long, long ago that most people had forgotten.  She loved gardening, crocheting, and taking care of her beloved dogs including Blue who miss her greatly.

Our Mom loved watching sports on TV including baseball, soccer, and horse racing.  But, nothing came close to her watching the Flyers.  You could tell any day of the week that the Flyers were playing by what my Mother wore.  She always had a Flyers shirt on any day that they played.  She wouldn’t answer the phone during the Flyers games and her poor dog had to wait to go out until in between periods!  She was very passionate about those Broad Street Bullies!

Thank You Mom for listening all these years.  You went through a tough battle this Summer and we are so very proud of you.  We will carry you with us for the rest of our lives.  May you rest in peace along with Dad, Grandmom and Grandpop, and all of your Brothers and Sisters.  God Bless You Mom.
