Obituary of Jane Skinner Haines

Jane S. Haines, a resident of Rydal Park in Jenkintown and formerly of Willow Grove, died August 25, 2016. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother and amazing friend. Born in Philadelphia to Oscar and Cyrene Skinner, she graduated from Frankford High School and then earned her BS degree from Beaver College (now Arcadia University) in 1948. Jane was an educator, retiring from Upper Moreland Middle School in 1990. She was also a member of P.E.O, former member of The Reformed Church of Willow Grove, and current member of Abington Presbyterian Church. She was also a member of Old York Road Country Club. She loved playing bridge, dancing, being an ambassador at Rydal Park, and vacationing with her family. A recent unforgettable trip to Cape Cod was spent with her daughter, her grandchildren and her great-grandson. Jane was preceded in death by her husband Samuel Haines, her special friend Dick Marsh, and by her daughter Debi Fritz. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, June and Bill Shirey, by her dear grandchildren: Kyle and Lauren Fritz, Rebeca and Mike Akula, Adam and Sonia Michelle Livesay, Bryant Livesay and by her great-grandson, Nathan Fritz. She also greatly appreciated the Haines, Livesay, Shirey, Fritz and Marsh families. Her memorial services will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, September 3, 2016 at Abington Presbyterian Church, Old York and Susquehanna Roads, Abington, where relatives and friends will be received after the service.
