MARGARET VIRGINIA EVANS KOHR YOCUM died peacefully, May 8, 2016 at Rydal Park retirement community, Rydal, PA. She was 103 and ½ years old.
Born in the city of Philadelphia, she was the daughter of immigrant parents from England and Sweden, the late William Thomas Evans and his wife, Gerda Eufemia Anderson Evans.
Growing up she lived in several areas of Philadelphia, attending Frankford High School. She worked at several office positions including with the W. Atlee Burpee & Co., Sears, Roebuck & Co., Curtis Publishing Co., Olivet Presbyterian Church, and the Rau Animal Hospital. She married her first husband, Joseph R. Kohr in 1934 and was married more than 44 years, until his death. They lived in the Fox Chase Manor section of Abington Township for almost 40 years. She moved to Upper Frederick Township in 1978. In 1982 she married William R. Yocum and was married 24 years until his death in 2007.
She was a life-long member of the Temple Baptist Church of Philadelphia, which later became Grace Baptist Church of Blue Bell, PA. "Peg" enjoyed cooking for her family, traveling, reading, playing pinochle and quilting.
She was predeceased by her parents and older brother, William Thomas Evans and is survived by her younger brother, Evert Evans. Margaret is survived by two sons, David R. Kohr and his wife Patty of Polaski, NY and Alan W. Kohr and his wife Nancy of Schwenksville, PA. She is also survived by five grandchildren: David, Susan, Jeffrey, Jonathan, and Brian and nine great-grandchildren: Karson, Diana, Phillip, Kyle, Atticus, Sylas, Zachery, Riley, and Jasper, along with a step great-granddaughter, Kara.
Services and interment in Whitemarsh Memorial Park will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Grace Baptist Church, 437 Skippack Pike, P.O. Box 122, Blue Bell, PA 19422.
