George W. Schuler, age 91, of Warminster, passed away on November 30, 2015, after a brief illness. He was the beloved husband of the late Elinor Belz Schuler until her death in 2011. He is survived by son George (Helen) and daughter Nancy Lind (Kirk). He was a devoted grandfather to Elizabeth (Andrew), Emily and Craig. He enthusiastically supported his grandchildren at many of their athletic, musical and artistic pursuits He is also survived by dear friend and devoted companion, Nancy Ashton.
Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late George W. Schuler, Sr. and the late Anna Schaeffer Schuler. A proud alumnus of Olney High School, George enlisted in the Marine Corps upon graduation and served in the Pacific during WWII. Following discharge, George attended Spring Garden Institute, Pennsylvania State University and Temple University, making full use of the GI Bill.
He began a long career in the petrochemical industry as a draftsman and retired from Selas Corporation, in 1996, as a sales engineer.
During retirement, George volunteered with the Abington Health-Home Care Hospice and walked three miles daily. George, and his wife Elinor, loved to travel and were fortunate to have visited many different countries, his favorite being Africa. He always stressed to his children and grandchildren to take every opportunity to travel and see the world.
Ever the optimist, he still loved his Eagles. He could never pass up a chicken dish, a piece of chocolate cake, an ice cream cone at Springer's, or a rerun of Seinfeld. George was a true gentleman loved by all he met.
Funeral service and interment in Washington Crossing National Cemetery will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Ann's Choice Benevolent Fund or the Ann's Choice Staff Appreciation Fund, Ann's Choice – Philanthropy Department, 10000 Ann's Choice Way, Warminster, PA 18974.
