Katharine "Katie/Kay" Huff Wilson Frantz, a resident of Southampton Estates in Southampton, PA since 1986 and formerly of Jenkintown, PA died on September 4, 2010. She recently celebrated her 100th birthday surrounded by her family. She was born on August 15, 1910 to Jessie Olivia Huff Wilson and Alfred Hayes Wilson of Aberdeen (Harford County) MD. Katharine and her older sister, Margaret, grew up on their family's farm, Whitaker's Ridge, in Aberdeen. After completing business college, she was associated with the Mutual Fire Insurance Company in Harford County, and later worked for her father's insurance company, The Wilson Oliver Agency. On October 15, 1938, she married Louis S. Frantz from Manderson, Wyoming, an engineer in the food and petroleum packaging industries. Prior to moving to their home in Jenkintown, PA they resided in various locations including Puerto Rico, New Jersey, New York and Maryland. Louis died on July 28, 1982. Katharine was a long time resident of Jenkintown and a member of Grace Presbyterian Church. She was a founding member of the Crosswicks Auxiliary of Abington Memorial Hospital that specialized in fund raising activities for the student nursing scholarship fund. She was employed for many years at The Moreland Shop. She was a member of various bridge and coterie groups. She is survived by her two daughters and their husbands; Jane Hayes Frantz Hender and Richard Hender of Abington and Kay Louise Frantz Salvino and Ernest Salvino of State College, PA. Additionally, she is survived by four grandchildren: Tracy Louise Salvino Longenecker, Jana Meredith Hender, Erin Elizabeth Hender, Jeffrey Ernest Louis Frantz Salvino, and by four great grandchildren: Catelin Marie Longenecker, Chase Eric Longenecker, Camryn Jane Longenecker, and Carly Hayes Longenecker. Funeral service and burial will be held privately. Memorial contributions may be sent to Samaritan Fund, Southampton Estates, 238 Street Road, Southampton, PA 18966.
