BETTY JEAN MILLER, age 84, a 60-year resident of Roslyn, PA and formerly of Ambler and the Mt. Airy Section of Philadelphia died on March 4, 2014. She was the beloved wife of Robert J. Miller, Sr. for 61 years.
Born in Flourtown, PA, she was the daughter of the late Ralph Cleaver Schumann and the late Emma Marie McCannon. Betty graduated from Springfield High School in 1947.
Betty was a devoted wife, mother, homemaker and grandmother. In 1994, she retired after15 years of service, from Merck Pharmaceuticals in Blue Bell where she had been a Confidential Medical Secretary. She previously worked for Unisys.
Betty was a member and Past Matron of Old York Road Chapter # 346 OES (Order of the Eastern Star) and while raising her children, served as Den Mother for her son's Boy Scout Troop and also assisted with her daughter's Girl Scout Leaders.
Betty was a dedicated and devoted member of Faith Community Church for 60 years, where she taught Sunday School, assisted with Bible Study, served on the Women of Faith Fellowship Committee and volunteered with the telephone prayer committee.
Betty enjoyed gardening, sewing and taking day trips.
In addition to her husband, Betty is survived by her son, Robert J. Miller, Jr. and his wife Dorothy of Hatfield, PA; by her daughter, Bonnie Joy Miller and her husband CAPT Eric J. Kuncir, M.D. of Solana Beach, CA and by her grandson, Robert J. III and his wife Amy Miller.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, March 8, 2014, Faith Community Church, 1200 Easton Road, Roslyn, PA 19001, where friends will be received from 10:00 until the time of the service. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Faith Community Church.
