ELISABETH M. THOMPSON, age 92, a resident of Wesley Enhanced Living in Hatboro and formerly of Abington died on February 10, 2014. She was the devoted wife of the late John R. Thompson, Jr. for 51 years until his death in 1999. When Betty was 21 years old, she married Donald H. Weisel who, in 1942, died in the Battle of Normandy. Born in Pottstown, PA, Elisabeth was the daughter of the late Harvey Latshaw Huber and the late Marion E. Bean Huber and the sister of the late Helen V. Heilman, the late Marjorie Jean Werley, the late Althea Beil, and the late Ronald H. Huber. After graduating from Allentown High School, Betty studied nursing and graduated from Temple University School of Nursing. She later did her post-graduate studies at the University of Pennsylvania. Early in her career, as a Registered Nurse, Betty was an Instructor at Temple University Hospital and at St. Christopher's Hospital for Children, where she spent a year as the Acting Director of Nursing. She later worked for the pediatric practice of Drs. R.E. Wells and Joseph M. Garfunkel. For 21-years, Betty served on the Board of the Visiting Nurses Association of Montgomery County, where she served as President for one term. She was a member of Overlook Women's Club, Round Meadow Run Questers and Willow Springs Questers. Betty was a member Oreland Presbyterian Church and a member of Jesus Focus Ministries, where she served as Elder. Memorial service will be held at 11:30 AM on Saturday, March 8, 2014 Oreland Presbyterian Church, 1119 Church Road, Oreland, where friends will be received after the service. Entombment in Whitemarsh Memorial Park will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Oreland Presbyterian 1119 Church Road, Oreland, PA 19075 or to Jesus Focus Ministries, P.O. Box 1519, Southampton, PA 18966.
