Obituary of Beverly Campbell Foster
Please share a memory of Beverly to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Beverly Campbell Foster of Jenkintown, Pennsylvania, died June 13, 2013, surrounded by her family. She was age 86.
Born December 2, 1926, in Hartford, Connecticut, Mrs. Foster was the daughter of the late LeRoy Walter and Edna Estelle (Young) Campbell. She was predeceased by her sisters Estelle Campbell Leetch, Beryl Campbell King, and Shirley Lorraine Campbell and her niece Beverly Campbell Leetch.
Mrs. Foster graduated from the Rye Country Day School in 1944 and Connecticut College for Women in 1948. Upon graduation Mrs. Foster worked for Batten, Barton, Durstine & Osborn in New York City for five years and returned to work in 1971 as a secretary for the pharmaceutical company Rhne-Poulenc-Rorer, Inc., from which she retired after 22 years of service.
With her beloved husband of 62 years, Albert Luscombe Foster, Mrs. Foster was a member of Abington Presbyterian Church since 1970 where they were members of the Come Double Club. Mrs. Foster previously belonged to Grace Presbyterian Church, Jenkintown, Pennsylvania, where she taught Sunday School; Rye Presbyterian Church, Rye, New York, and Hitchcock Presbyterian Church, Scarsdale, New York, where she and her husband were married September 22, 1951.
Mrs. Foster was an avid traveler and knitter. With her husband she traveled around the United States and Alaska in their RV and camped and hiked in Europe several times with her family. Mrs. Foster's hands produced countless knitted items for family and friends and in later years she contributed afghans to homeless shelters and the Veterans' Hospital.
Those who were privileged to know Mrs. Foster knew her as a modest, caring and conscientious wife, mother and grandmother, faithful always to her husband and family.
In addition to her husband, Mrs. Foster is survived by her children Lindsay C. Foster Johnson (husband Eric, and children Eric "Cam" (wife Arzo), Ashley and Beverly); Allison Foster Hallowell (husband Henry and children Rebecca, Courtney and Taylor); Albert "Jay" Luscombe Foster, Jr. (wife Rajni Verma and children Sanjay, Vijay, Aditi and Ajay) and Craig Franklin Foster and her niece Shirley Leetch Leeper.
A memorial service to celebrate Mrs. Foster's life will be held on Friday, July 12, 2013, at 11:00 am at the Abington Presbyterian Church, 1082 Old York Road, Abington, Pennsylvania 19001-4593. The family asks that in lieu of flowers contributions be made in Mrs. Foster's memory to the Memorial Fund of the Abington Presbyterian Church. The family also expresses its thanks to Drs. Melissa Lee and Richard Snyder for their many years of gentle care of Mrs. Foster.
