JEAN PARVIS McTAMNEY, age 91, a resident of Willow Valley Manor Retirement Community in Lancaster since 1993 and formerly of Mt. Pocono and Huntingdon Valley, died on April 14, 2013. She was the devoted wife for 58-years to the late Joseph P. McTamney D.D.S., until his death in 2003. Born in Philadelphia, PA, she was the daughter f the late Charles F. Parvis and the late Mildred Kugel Parvis. Jean graduated from Simon Gratz High School in 1939and later attended the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. Prior to her marriage in 1945, Jean had worked as a legal secretary. Jean was a devoted wife, mother, homemaker and grandmother. She was active in Friendship Bible Coffees of Christian Women's Clubs Stonecroft Ministries and in leading Bible studies in Philadelphia, Bucks County, and Montgomery County and in the Pocono area. She is survived by her daughter; Ellen and her husband Edward R. Thum of Raleigh, NC; and by her grandsons, Christopher S. Thum and his wife Marie and Andrew M. Thum and his wife Andrea, great-grandson, Jacob Patrick Thum. She was preceded in death by her son, Stephen John McTamney. Memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, April 19, 2013 in the C. Jack Orr Auditorium, 211 Willow Valley Square, Lancaster, PA. Friends will be received after the service. Interment in Sunset Memorial Park will be private. Memorial contributions may be sent to Friends of Israel, P.O. Box 908, Bellmawr, NJ 08099.
