Caroline Seiler Murray, a life-long resident of Rydal and Baederwood, passed away at Rydal Park on January 29, 2013 at the age of 87. Previously deceased by her husband of 47 years, William Bruce Murray, she was loved by her family and members of the community. Born in Philadelphia she was the daughter of the late Karl, Jr. and Marguerite Seiler, brother to the late Karl Seiler, III. After graduating from Abington High School, she earned a Home Economics degree from Hood College in Frederick, MD. Caroline began her professional career at Curtis Publishing in Philadelphia and in the 1950s was involved with some of the first television cooking shows. Caroline was active in the Philadelphia community, previously serving as President of the Thomas Jefferson University Hospital Women's Board and member of the Thomas Jefferson University Board of Directors. She also actively supported the Jenkintown Day Nursery and chaired the Women's Committee at the Union League of Philadelphia. In addition to the Union League, she was a member of Manufacturers' Golf and Country Club, Skytop Lodge, Church of the Redeemer (Longport, NJ) and Grace Presbyterian Church. Caroline enjoyed swimming, playing the piano and attending events at the Philadelphia Orchestra. She was an avid gardener and grew orchids with her late husband. At Rydal Park she was a regular contributor to the community newspaper, The Rydal Park Reporter. She is survived by her two sons and their spouses; William Bruce, Jr. and Martha of Avon, CT and Karl Seiler and Brooke of Rydal, PA; and her six grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 AM on Sunday, February 24, 2013 in the Auditorium of Rydal Park, 1515 The Fairway, Jenkintown. Funeral service and burial in West Laurel Hill Cemetery were held privately.
