Obituary of Bernice Elizabeth Heebner

Bernice Elizabeth Heebner (nee Sheporaitis), age 85, a resident of the Rydal Park Retirement Community and longtime resident of Abington, died November 28, 2012. Born in Philadelphia, she was the only child of the late Bernard S and the late Gladys H. Sheporaitis. She married the late William J. Heebner in 1957. Mrs. Heebner went to Frankford High School, graduated from Temple University, where in 1949; she earned her Bachelors degree in English. She then worked for Bell Telephone of PA and AT&T for more than 30 years before retiring. Later, she worked for Penn State University, Abington Campus, for 15 years. Mrs. Heebner is survived by a cousin living in New Jersey. She was a long time active member of St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Glenside. She loved music, playing the piano and her garden. She had a special affection for the boxer dog breed. She owned five boxers throughout her life, two of which were rescued dogs. A memorial service was held at 10:00am on Tuesday, December 4, 2012 at St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Glenside. Burial was in the Memorial Courtyard of the church.
