Obituary of Theodore August Behrens

Theodore August Behrens, age 92, of Gloria Dei Farms in Hatboro and formerly of Huntingdon Valley died on February 1, 2012. He was the devoted husband of Mary E. Shoemaker Behrens for 69 years. Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Herman B. Behrens and the late Florence M. Bowne Behrens and the brother of the late Florence Brooks. Ted graduated from Upper Moreland High School in 1938. He proudly served as Sergeant with the US Marines Corps, in the South Pacific, during WWII and during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the American Legion Post # 163 and was a life-time member of the Marine Corps League Patriot Detachment in Richboro. Ted retired from Philco-Ford Company as Purchasing Agent in 1981, where he had been employed for 38 years. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sons and their spouses; Robert K. and Ann Behrens of North Wales, PA and Richard W. and April A. Behrens of Furlong, PA; by his grandchildren, Dean Behrens and his wife Circe, Mark Behrens, Jessica Behrens, Michelle Behrens and Nicole Behrens and by his great-granddaughters, Nadya and Alexei. Memorial service will be held at 12:00 noon on Monday, February 6, 2012 at Baron Rowland Funeral Home, 1059 Old York Road, Abington, where friends will be received from 11:00 to 12:00 p.m. Burial in Washington Crossing National Cemetery will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Abington Memorial Hospital Foundation, 1200 Old York Road, Abington, PA 19001.
