Obituary of Margaret W. Kellerman

MARGARET W. KELLERMAN, a resident of the Philadelphia Protestant Home for the past 17 years and formerly of the Tioga section of Philadelphia died on September 19, 2011. She was 92 years old. Born in Philadelphia, she was the loving daughter of the late Elmer J. Kellerman and the late Louise Winter Kellerman. Miss Kellerman graduated from the Philadelphia Normal School. She studied Education at Temple University from where, in 1942, she earned her bachelors degree and, in 1945, her masters degree. Miss Kellerman began her career as a kindergarten teacher with the Philadelphia School system in 1939. During her 35 year career, she had taught at the Sharswood School in South Philadelphia and at the Birney and Lowell Schools in the Olney section of Philadelphia. She retired in 1974. She was a life member of the Philadelphia Public School Retired Employees Association, Pennsylvania Association of School Retirees, National Educators Association, which became a division of AARP and Pennsylvania Public School Employees' Retirement System. In her retirement years, she became an active and dedicated member of the Monday Young at Heart Leisure Club, Milestones Senior Group and of the Philadelphia Protestant Home Auxiliary. She was a long-time member of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Olney. Her funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, September 26, 2011 in the chapel of the Philadelphia Protestant Home, 6505 Tabor Road, Philadelphia, where friends are invited to call from 10:00 until the time of the service. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery.
