Obituary of Thomas LeVan Binckley

Thomas LeVan Binckley, age 80, a 6 year resident of Spring House Estates, Lower Gwynedd, passed away on September 11, 2024. He was the beloved husband of Eileen M. Steely Binckley for 58 years. Born on March 24, 1944 in Reading, PA he was the son of the late Edward W.P. and the late Emma LeVan Binckley. He was a graduate of the Muhlenberg High School, Laureldale, PA, class of 1962. He earned his Bachelor's degree from Ursinus College and later earned his Master's degree in Education from Temple University. He was a 7th grade English teacher with the Abington School District having retired after 32 years. Thomas was a member of PSEA, PIAA (as a former football, basketball and track official), on the Board of Wyncote Church Home, Jenkintown Civil Service Commission and McKinley and Jenkintown Fire Police. He was also a member of Glenside United Church of Christ, where he taught Sunday school and served as Superintendent of Sunday school. Additionally, he was a member of the Church Council and eventually served as President. In his free time, he enjoyed sports, reading, Lionel trains and time at Ocean City, NJ. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sons and their spouses: Thomas L. Binckley, Jr. and Katherine Templeton and Christopher L. and Alison Binckley and by four grandchildren. Memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, September 27, 2024, Glenside United Church of Christ, 2160 Wharton Road, Glenside, PA where relatives and friends will be received from 10:00 AM until the time of the service. Interment will be private.
