Please share a memory of Josephine to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Josephine "Josie" Giardinelli (nee Mannella), age 101 of Warminster, Pennsylvania passed away peacefully on March 12, 2024 at home. Born in the Germantown neighborhood of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Josie was the third child of Anthony and Mary Mannella. She was the devoted wife of Val for 46 years until his passing in 1987.
Josie was a graduate of Girls High in Philadelphia and during WWII, she worked in the 30th Street Station at the information desk where she enjoyed helping travelers navigate to their destination.
While her husband served in the US Army during WWII, and she was a young mother, Josie became the first female bookkeeper for the Singer Sewing Machine Company. Her head for business was instrumental in the success of the family businesses including Val Garden Construction, The Sun Deck Motel and The Commodore Marina.
Josie was passionate about spending time down at the Brigantine Shore. You could often find her out at the marina with her husband and grandsons fueling boats and enjoying the salt air.
Josie and Val were dedicated supporters of the Shriners and enjoyed the many activities that came along with that philanthropy.
Dancing was one of her favorite leisure activities, including ballroom dancing in her youth and square dancing at Ann's Choice. She learned to engage on social media so that she could follow the comings and goings of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She would also spend hours watching funny animal videos on YouTube and she was a fan of the television program Shark Tank.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband Val, and her devoted daughter Valene. Josie is survived by her son Bob Giardinelli (Lynn), her son-in-law Jim Best, and her grandchildren Chris Hassinger (Briana), Heather Giardinelli (John), Brian Hassinger (Jenae), Todd Giardinelli, Chad Giardinelli (Samantha), 13 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.
A memorial service will be held at the Ann's Choice Chapel, 30000 Ann's Choice Way, Warminster, PA 18974 on March 16, 2024 at 10 am.
