Obituary of Dorothy Heron Moore

DOROTHY H. MOORE, age 93, a resident of Dock Woods Community in Lansdale, since 1995, and formerly of Willow Grove died on July 31, 2011. She was the devoted wife of the late Elbert C. Moore for 48-years, until his death in 1989. Born in Palantine, NJ, she was the daughter of the late Ethel Weeks Heron and the late Patrick A. Heron. Dorothy graduated from John Storey Jenks Elementary School in Chestnut Hill, where she was awarded the American Legion Medal in 1930. In 1935, she graduated from Germantown High School. She had worked for Drexel & Co. for more than 33 years. She was a member of Willow Grove Baptist Church, where she was Primary Superintendent for 33-years. She was a longtime member and Past Matron of York Road Eastern Star #346. Her longtime passion was traveling the world with her husband while collecting souvenirs to decorate her home. At home, she enjoyed gardening and photography. She is survived by two nephews, a great-niece and by two great-nephews. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, James Heron and by her sisters and their husbands; Ethel H. and Howard Scott and Alice and John Kavalek. Funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, August 3, 2011, in the Chapel of Dock Woods Community, 275 Dock Drive, Lansdale, where relatives and friends will be received from 9:00 AM until the time of the service. Burial will be in Whitemarsh Memorial Park, 1169 Limekiln Pike, Ambler, PA 19002.
