Obituary of Linette Schreiber

Please share a memory of Linette to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Linda "Linette" Schreiber, age 76, a resident of Ardmore, PA died on February 23, 2026, after an unexpected illness and subsequent hospital stay.

Born in Philadelphia on June 11, 1949, she was the daughter of the late Lee Schreiber and the late Sylvia Lesser Schreiber.

Linette graduated from Rosemont College and then went on to earn her Masters of Library Science from Villanova University. She spent her working career as a librarian and researcher and was a writer and poet.

In 2018, she became a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Church. She sang in their church choir and was a very active member of other choirs throughout her life, often juggling two at a time. Music was a steady companion in her life. She loved to sing in choirand had a natural ear that allowed her to tune an instrument by ear. Through many ups and sowns, music remained a source of comfort and connection for her.  She was also very spiritual, becoming an Oblate of St. Benedict, through St. Vincent Archabbey in Latrobe, PA.

She was involved in politics. She was especially interested and advocated for political issues that helped underserved communities and the unhoused, the environment, and animals. She once let an unhoused woman find shelter in her home for the night. Linette was deeply spiritual, funny, and had childlike wonder for so many things. She was quirky, eclectic, well read, had an amazing memory, and was a techie.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Hannah S. and Scott Tighe; grandchildren: Zachary Tighe, Gabriella Tighe and Sam Tighe; brother Michael Schreiber; sister and brother-in-law, Merril and Doug Smith and their children:Jay Smith (Clare Wolfendale) and Sheryl Began (Eric Began) and by sister, Lori Schreiber and wife Linda Allotta.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at noon on Monday, March 2, 2026, Our Lady of Lourdes Church, 6301 Woodbine Avenue, Philadelphia. Relatives and friends will be received in the Rectory of the Church from 11:00 AM until the time of the mass. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 6315 Lancaster Ave., Philadelphia, PA 19151.
