Obituary of Melva Exner, Esq.

Melva Marie Exner, age 66, a resident of Lower Gwynedd, PA died on December 7, 2025. She was the beloved wife of Timothy J. Moynahan, with whom she shared 41 years of marriage.

Born on August 18, 1959 in Philadelphia, PA, Melva was the daughter of the late Robert F. Exner and the late Melva Lieber Exner. She graduated from Gwynedd Mercy Academy High School in 1977 and then earned her bachelor's degree from St. Joseph's University in 1981. In 1984, Melva received her Juris Doctorate from Temple University Beasley School of Law.

Prior to private practice, Melva enjoyed a 28-year career with AgustaWestland, a helicopter design and manufacturing company in Philadelphia.

One of her greatest joys was traveling while spending time with family and friends. There was no place more loved or visited than Walt Disney World. From her first visit with her parents and sisters in June of 1972 to her last with Tim in May of 2025, she loved to share her special place with others. From her many trips with her immediate family to those that included an extended array of family and dear friends, lifelong memories were made here. She enjoyed many other places near and far such as memorable trips to London and Paris, Thanksgivings celebrated in Hilton Head Island, weekend tailgates at Penn State, and summer days spent in OCNJ or Hershey with her grandsons.

In her spare time, she enjoyed cross stitching and crafting. Although she didn't always complete a project, she always had supplies on hand for when the perfect moment of inspiration struck. She also provided free childcare, clothes, toys, and anything really for the two little men she loved more than anything in the world.

Melva dedicated much of her free time through her life to her beloved Alma Mater, Gwynedd Mercy Academy High School. Most recently, she served as Chair of the Board of Trustees up until her death. She loved all the friends she made through her service and especially cherished the relationships she built with many Sisters of Mercy over the years.

In addition to her husband, Melva is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Abbey Moynahan; daughter Caitlyn Moynahan; grandsons Jack Moynahan and Patrick Moynahan; sisters Susan (Jeff) Sobczak and Laura (Jack) Mallon and by treasured brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and dear friends.

Memorial service will be held at 3:00 PM on Monday, December 29th, 2025 at Gwynedd Mercy Academy High School, 1345 Sumneytown Pike, Lower Gwynedd, PA. A reception to follow at GMAHS.
